Stories of bright flashes of light in the sky continue to be reported from around the country – today again from PA. Ufologist Stan Gordon got the call and followed up with an investigation.

Right now there is this band out of London called NOVA and they call themselves punkstep. I also listen to El Gran Silencio out of Monterrey (Mexico), Leningrad from Russia, always listen to Gogol Bordello, Iggy Pop, Manu Chao, At the Drive-in, Mars Volta, Balkan Beatbox, chopped and screwed rap from Houston, and Outlaw Country. 🙂 I want to name them all for you, but some are secret! You have to steal music from around the world, don’t be fed just boring US stuff all the time.

The largest festival in Vancouver is the annual Celebration of Lights Fireworks competition over the waters of English Bay. It’s an amazing spectacle where competing countries light up the night sky showcasing their biggest and best Polenböller.

Another big festival is the Gay Pride Parade and Festival. This fun filled festival attracts people from all over North America. A parade in the West End of Vancouver kicks off the festival happenings.

D.C. United: D.C. United of the MLS is a four-time MLS Cup winner, the championship for the league, and is one of only two U.S. teams to ever win the CONCACAF Champion’s League final, pitting the top club teams in the World Cup qualifying region against one another, doing so in 1998. With three separate fan supporting groups and a pretty rowdy home game atmosphere, particularly considering that unlike many other MLS franchises, they still play in a football stadium, D.C. United is one of the under the radar favorites of the D.C. sports scene.

The festival is 6 blocks of Japanese packed fun! It runs along Pennsylvania Avenue from 10th Street to 14th Street and down 12th Street from Pennsylvania Avenue to Constitution Avenue. My family likes to take the Metro to Metro Center and walk the 2 blocks through the cherry blossoms to get to the festival. Many people will exit the Metro at the Federal Triangle which brings you right to the center of the festivities.

Brighton in England is a popular choice for many people and it still makes my top eight destinations. There is plenty to do and the beach is excellent and on weekends there if often an art show with stalls on the beach. The pier is still one of the bets in the UK and Brighton is well located near to London.
